What can I say? My lovely wee Granny and Godmother Annie, died suddenly on 6th January '88 after suffering a heart-attack that New Year! She was married to Alex and had 9 children (4 girls, 5 boys).

My most vivid memory of my Granny was that she was a "bingo-holic" and used to go to great lengths to get her fix of it - even making up stories to my granda and kidding on she'd been elsewhere when really she'd been down the Vogue bingo in Riddrie. She'd even drag one (or more) of her unsuspecting grandchildren with her to cover her story! We were always rewarded for our silence with juice and sweets which made us feel very special!

My poor Granny suffered badly with athritis and I always remember her wee "special" shoes that she had to wear and sometimes, the pain got so bad she could only wear slippers out and about. She also used to love to knit but cos of her athritis, couldn't use needles and instead, she used this massive big knitting machine contraption which took pride of place in her wee kitchen in Glendevon Square...oh the things she used to produce from that!!!

She gave me some of her "little treasures" which were mostly some little Holy medals which I still have - they mean the world to me.

My only regret for my Granny is that she didn't get to meet all of her grandchildren and none of her great grandchildren who am sure she'd have loved!

Still....there was always the irrepressible, unique and infuriating (at times) Granda Alex in her stead....

I'll leave it at that.....miss you always Granny xxxx

our ma

our ma was a great wee person who was always busy .she loved the grandchildren ,if only she could have had some more time to see them grow and have children of their own.she was a hard worker and i felt cheated that she passed away just when she should have been enjoying the family all grown and away .she loved the bingo and used to say to our da she was sitting with the girl in the bakers when all the time she was at bingo .she even took the kids with her to make it look authentic .we were able to talk to her and moan at her and she just took in her stride .if only she were here today to moan to .everybody knew her where she stayed as some shopping could take her an hour by the time she spoke to every person she met.shes a terrible miss to our family and she's missed so much .still ....if only won't bring her back ..but hopefully we will see her again .something to look forward to .
